System Requirements / Compatibility

SPOT has been designed to take advantage of the most current versions of Microsoft Windows and compatible hardware.  We currently support Microsoft Windows Professional versions 7, 8.1, 10 and server versions 2008 R2 and 2012 R2.  SPOT no longer supports Windows XP.  We suggest you keep up with the latest service packs and security updates available from Microsoft.  Having the proper hardware configuration is very important for optimized operation of SPOT.  You may save money on hardware to find that the money saved costs you in performance and reliability.

Virtual Environment Support

  • SPOT is currently running in Hyper-V, VMWare and Citrix XenServer virtualized environments.  SPOT technical support is not trained to assist in the support of your virtual infrastructure.  Please rely on a local service and support group to provide virtual infrastructure support services.

Comments / Notes

This section provides SPOT admininstrators a starting point for server / software configuration when running in a Centralized / Self Hosted model. We use open architecture standards in the design and implementation of SPOT and the Microsoft network. If you are seriously looking at our Central / Self Hosted model you will not want to take this venture lightly. SBS strongly recomends a third party vendor assist you in the design, installation and maintenance of a self hosted environment. Below you will find a suggested shopping list of items to be used in your server farm. These are minimum suggestions only.  Servers will need to be configured and licensed properly as required by each manufacturer.
